I am primarily interested in how crops, especially the perennial grains, affect belowground processes and interact with soil microbial communities, and if/how we can use this knowledge to build healthier agricultural soils. A more robust soil microbiome can support multiple ecosystem services, including C sequestration, nutrient cycling, and increased N retention.
